Mumbai Indians stay alive in their race to qualify in CLT20 after thrashing Southern Express by 9 wickets with 22 balls to spare at Raipur. A run chase of 162 on a spinning pitch was made to look very easy by Mumbai Indians’s openers Lendl Simmons and Michael Hussey.

Lendl Simmons started off slowly but finished with 76 not out in 51 balls with 11 fours and a six. Hussey was the only to be dismissed but not before he bludgeoned 60 from 40 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes. Kieron Pollard ensured a rapid victory by smashing three sixes in his 20 not out from 7 balls.

Early on, Southern Express despite a poor start of 65 for 4 in 10.5 overs finished with a highly competitive total. Farvez Maharoof did the turn around by hitting a superb 41 not out from 22 balls. For the Mumbai Indians, Harbhajan Singh bowled well for his 4-1-18-0. With two defeats in a row, Southern Express become the first team to be knocked out from the qualifying stage.
