Former Australia captain Aaron Finch reckons that openers Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul will be Lucknow Super Giants' biggest strength in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season. According to Finch, since the two are diverse players, they complement each other really well.

Team India captain Rohit Sharma has stated that stripping KL Rahul of the vice-captaincy does not mean anything. Rahul was named vice-captain for the first two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. However, Rohit will be without a deputy for the remaining two Tests. While the latter registered his maiden Test ton, Rahul failed to play a single innings of note. Now, with Rohit Sharma available for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India might have to pick between Rahul and Gill for the opening slot.

Team India bowling coach Paras Mhambrey praised stand-in captain KL Rahul after Day 4 of the Chattogram Test against Bangladesh, stating that he rotated the bowlers very well and kept the pressure on the opposition.
