Deccan Chargers finally won their first ever match at their home ground in the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal, Hyderabad. The historic victory came over Royal Challengers Bangalore by 33 runs. It was a strong batting show which set up this comfortable win with the Chargers putting up a solid 175 for 5 after being asked to bat first by Vettori. Young middle order batsman - Bharat Chipli was the surprise hero of the innings coming up with a sparkling 61 not out from 35 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes. Skipper Sangakkara too batted well for his 36 from 25 balls. For the Bangalore team, Zaheer Khan captured 3 for 32.
In their run chase, RCB was pegged back at 29 for 4 in the 7th over losing a couple of big wickets. Virat Kohli stayed in the middle for a long time but the equation had just gone out of his reach. Kohi still played in a spirited fashion scoring 71 from 51 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes and RCB could recover to come up with a respectable 142 for 9 which was a long way short of the target. Quick bowlers - Dale Steyn and Manpreet Gony did the damage for the hosts taking three wickets each. Steyn got the Man of the Match award.
