Chennai Super Kings overcame some initial hurdles to pound Central Stags by an overwhelming margin of 57 runs in the 3rd Match of the Champions League at Durban.

Batting first after winning the toss, Chennai Super Kings were pegged back by the short and rising deliveries on a spicy pitch and their innings never got going at 40 for 3 in 8.1 overs. However, the pair of S Badrinath and S Anirudha (42 from 29 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes) forged together a beautiful partnership of 73 to provide a perfect launching pad for the final overs. Badrinath went onto score an unbeaten 52 from 42 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes while Albie Morkel provided the fireworks with an unbeaten 26 from 15 balls.

The New Zealand based Central Districts lacked any serious class in their batting line up against a quality bowling attack. And their innings got folded in 18.1 overs for just 94. All the CSK bowlers from the pacers to the spinners got something from the pitch to get amongst the wickets. Badrinath got the Man of the Match for his crucial knock.
